There are things about the act of dancing that not even the dancer knows what they are. They appear and are lost again in the movement. Sometimes we call them sensations or intentions, images, memories, meaning. They emerge, they sprout, they take shape, they are about to be. They often emerge almost invisible. Nothing apparently changes and yet everything is radically transformed. They seem to come from within, they operate underneath. They touch you for a moment, then they leave.
Jesús Rubio Gamo is an independent dance maker. His work has been presented in festivals such as Chantiers d’Europe – Théâtre de la Ville Paris, Brandhaarden Festival – International Theatre Amsterdam, Festival GREC Barcelona, Dancenet Sweden, Spring Forward (Aerowaves) or RomaEuropa Festival. He combines the creation of intimate solo work such as his piece Now, before we get too old, with bigger ensemble choreographies like Gran Bolero which is still touring after 6 years of its premiere.
