Quiso negro explores the idea of death through the ritual use of acoustic, kinetic, and iconographic patterns. It draws on tarantism, a ritual from southern Italy that originated in the Middle Ages, based on movement and the bite of a spider. The work seeks the potential of the body and the image on stage to go beyond choreography.
Ester Guntín has studied Humanities and Choreography. Her work explores forgotten phenomena at the margins of dominant narratives, using movement, sound, space and dramaturgy beyond choreography. Quiso negro (Institut del Teatre Dance Award 2023; MAX Prize 2025) premiered at Festival Grec 2024.
